Frequently asked questions
What are spot Bitcoin ETF flows?
They are the money flowing in and out of US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs (BlackRock's IBIT, Fidelity's FBTC, Grayscale's GBTC…). A net inflow means the ETF had to buy Bitcoin to create new shares; a net outflow, that it sold some.
How do you read ETF flows for trading?
A series of net inflows reflects sustained institutional demand, rather supportive for the price. Heavy outflows during a rally show that institutions aren't following the move. Flow reversals often come before price reversals: always compare the bars with the Bitcoin curve.
When are the figures published?
A session's flows are known after the Wall Street close (4 pm New York time) and consolidated in the evening or the next morning. The current session's IBIT volume can be followed hour by hour in the dashboard.
The dashboard shows ETF flows, the current session's IBIT volume, open interest and funding in real time. Private group members also get live positions and signals.
